FxPro Swap & Overnight Fees — FxPro Nigeria 2026
A swap (or rollover) is the interest debited or credited when you hold a leveraged position overnight.
Open FxPro Account →When a cost gap appears on a trade you were sure about, the next question is whether the extra was a cost of trading at all. A swap, or rollover, is the interest you pay or receive for holding a leveraged position overnight at FxPro: it is charged only when the position is still open past the daily rollover, the rate depends on the instrument and on whether you are long or short, and Wednesday nights are charged triple swap to cover the weekend. That gives two checks which settle most of these cases. Was the position open at a rollover at all — a trade opened and closed inside one session cannot carry a swap. And how many rollovers did it live through, counting Wednesday as three. A position closed the morning after it opened often carries a charge the entry estimate had no place for, and that is normal accounting rather than an error. Eligible clients can use a swap-free (Islamic) account, which holds no overnight swap.

What you are debited (−) or credited (+) per standard lot held past the daily rollover, measured on FxPro’s own MT5 Raw+ feed (with the raw points in brackets). A negative number costs you to hold; a positive one pays you. Triple swap is applied on Wednesday night to cover the weekend value date. Carry / yr is the annualised swap yield (swap × 365 ÷ notional at the live price) — a rough guide to what holding the position costs or earns over a year, shown where we have a live price. Total net cost to hold one standard lot over time — the spread plus accumulated swap. A positive figure is what it costs you; a negative one means you come out ahead (positive carry). For example, holding EUR/USD long for a month costs about $276, while a EUR/USD short earns about $48. Based on measured spreads and current swaps — rates vary.
Swap at a glance
- Charged only on positions held past the daily rollover (around server 00:00)
- Rate depends on the instrument and whether you are long or short
- Triple swap on Wednesday nights (covers the weekend value date)
- Swap-free (Islamic) accounts hold no swap for eligible clients

Avoiding swaps
If you hold positions overnight regularly, a swap-free (Islamic) account may avoid swap interest for eligible clients. Check live swap rates inside your platform before holding overnight.
Open FxPro Account →The rollover test, in two timestamps
Before anything else, establish whether a swap could exist. Two timestamps answer that: when the position opened and when it closed, both read in server time. If both sit inside the same trading session, the overnight meter never started and the difference you are chasing lives somewhere else — in the spread, the commission, or the size.
If the position did span a rollover, count them. One night is one charge; a night that included Wednesday carries the triple charge for the weekend value date; a position left over several days carries one for each rollover it survived. The number of charges is a fact you can predict before you look, which is what makes this the cheapest check on the list.
Overnight numbers that look wrong and are not
Three patterns account for most of the surprise. A charge three times bigger than expected on a single night is the Wednesday rule doing exactly what it is meant to do. A figure that arrives with the opposite sign is not a broken calculation either — overnight interest runs in both directions depending on the instrument and on whether the position was long or short.
And a rate that differs from the one you noted a week ago is normal too: swap rates are set per instrument and move with market rates, so a figure copied down once is a snapshot, not a constant. None of these three is worth a message. A count of charges that does not match the count of rollovers is.
Why an entry estimate has no place for it
An estimate made before sending an order prices the entry: what the distance between bid and ask takes out, and what the commission adds. Holding is metered separately and on a different clock — it does not care how the trade was entered, only that the position was still open when the day rolled over.
That is why an overnight charge so often looks like an anomaly when it is simply a second meter. Once a cost review separates the two, the entry part can be checked against the pricing of the account and the holding part against the number of rollovers, and each half either matches or does not — which is far easier than arguing with one combined figure.

What traders report
Both voices here are positive, which is itself a limitation — nobody in this sample argues the other side. One has been short gbpusd and eurusd since November and reports the overnight charge staying modest; the other sidesteps swaps entirely with a swap-free Islamic account while trading swings at zero commission. For a multi-day hold, plan with the rate table rather than with two contented reports.
FxPro doesn't charge high swap commissions. I've been holding short positions on gbpusd and eurusd since november.
I'm a swing trader, so for me the spreads is just nice and acceptable with 0 commission, they offer Islamic swap free.
